Seasonal Geographical Information Systems Assistant
The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River is seeking GIS Assistants to commence in May and terminate in September 2024. This position works out of our Slave Lake location.
Provide technical assistance and conduct data collection for geographic information system and asset management program. Work is to be completed in an efficient and accurate manner with emphasis on independent work habits and self-motivated initiative to learn and excel in all aspects of data and asset management process.
Responsibilities
Duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Collecting asset data in the field using ArcGIS Field Maps or Surveying devices.
- Exporting or downloading data collected in appropriate GIS files.
- Provide input and feedback on data collection process.
- Assist with the asset management program.
- Research and evaluate the GIS hardware and software systems.
- Provide technical support to lead hand in another municipal department.
- Map design and production based on requirement outlined by the end user.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Geographic Information System certificate or diploma, or Geomatics related training – required
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License – required
- Proficiency with GIS Platforms including but not limited to QGIS, ArcGIS, Catalis
- Experience working with data collection apps or surveying equipment’s – asset
Salary Range: $24.36 – $29.64/hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
