Slave Lake Airport

Serving business, forestry and tourism

Hosting thousands of flights each year, the Slave Lake airport provides fast, convenient access to the forestry, petroleum and tourism industries. The airport is a Transport Canada certified airport and is operated by the Slave Lake Airport Services Commission.
A busy airport, the airport had over 7,500 aircraft movements in 2012, with the majority of those being commercial and helicopter. The airport is also home to a medevac base, which provides area residents with access to primary healthcare in the province. A unique feature of the airport is that it hosts a water bomber base, which services the largest area in the province. Several water bomber planes are stationed at the base, allowing for an active response to fighting wildfires in northern Alberta.
