The MD of Lesser Slave River will be holding a Municipal By-Election for Division 2 Councillor on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the MD Administration Building in Slave Lake. Nomination Day is on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
Division 2 includes the communities of Mitsue, Poplar Lane, Marten Beach, Canyon Creek, Widewater, Assineau. (Townships 68 to 72 – all of Ranges 4 to 7 inclusive; Townships 73 to 76 – all of Ranges 4 to 8 inclusive; and Townships 77 and 78 – all of Ranges 4 to 6 inclusive; all of the above lands lying west of the fifth Meridian, excepting lands comprising the Town of Slave Lake, Sawridge Indian Reserve and the Assineau River Indian Reserve).
If you’ve got the time, energy and experience needed to fill the role of Councillor, Division 2, please give some thought to running as a candidate. To be nominated as a candidate in an electoral division, the person must be a resident of the division for six consecutive months prior to nomination day. The term of office is for the remainder of the Council term. There is no limit on the number of times a Councillor can be re-elected.
Information for Voters
Residents of the MD can cast their By-Election votes on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the MD Administration Building in Slave Lake. The Voting Station will be open from 10:00am to 8:00pm. Remember to bring your ID to vote. You’ll need one piece of Canadian government-issued ID with your name, photo, and current address.
For those unable to make it on voting day, advance voting is available on Thursday, January 30, 2020 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at the MD Administration Building in Slave Lake.
