Snowplow Flags

Pay the MD to plow your property.

Each winter, the MD’s Transportation department provides residents an opt-in snowplow flag service that allows their driveways to be cleared following a snowfall.
SNOWPLOW FLAGS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE SLAVE LAKE OR FLATBUSH MUNICIPAL OFFICES, AND AT THE SMITH LIBRARY.

Please make note that mandatory, province-wide restrictions are in place until further notice. Before you head out to purchase a Snowplow Flag, call 780.849.4888 to confirm how these restrictions may have impacted the program.

Snowplow flags can be purchased at the Slave Lake and Flatbush municipal offices during regular business hours, and at the Smith Library on Tuesday from 12:30pm to 6:30pm, Wednesday from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, and Thursday from 1pm to 5pm.

To participate in this program, simply download and complete the waiver of liability, then submit it to the MD administration office in Slave Lake along with payment via cheque, Interac or cash for every snowplow flag you wish to purchase. Each snowplow flag costs $42.50 plus GST each (or half price for seniors), and is good for one instance of snow clearance.

When you require your property to be cleared of snow, just place a purchased flag at the end of your driveway to indicate that the service is requested. Under normal conditions, this service is fulfilled 3 to 4 days following a snowfall. Please keep in mind that municipal roads take priority.

Your land. Your snow.

As a resident of the MD, any snow that falls onto your property is your responsibility. Do not push your snow onto the roads, ditches or right-of-ways. Keeping your snow on your land helps prevent dangerous drifting, ice roads and flooding. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
