Invasive species are a growing concern for our land and water.

The Lesser Slave Watershed Council, Big Lakes County, and the MD are hosting a free Invasive Species Workshop on April 9 from 5:30pm to 9:00pm at the Kinuso Ag Hall.

The evening will cover aquatic invasive species that pose a risk to Lesser Slave Lake, local agricultural invasives, and management strategies for landowners and operators. Presentations include:

  • Kallum McDonald on aquatic invasives
  • Sarah Cairns, Big Lakes County, on municipal responsibilities and programs
  • Thane Beagle (Corteva) and Ken Houle (Envu), with a sprayer calibration demo

The workshop is open to agricultural producers, campground and marina owners/operators, lakefront and acreage owners, parks and municipal staff, and anyone with an interest in protecting local land and water.

Supper is provided, and registration is required. Sign up on the Lesser Slave Watershed Council website ( lswc.ca ) or call 780.523.9800.
