With day-to-day responsibilities pulling you in every direction, it can be difficult to find the time to think about the long-term future, much less plan for it.

However, stewardship is a cornerstone of a successful operation, and the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) is designed to help you navigate that future.

This voluntary, free, and confidential program walks you through your operation step-by-step, highlighting your existing strengths while identifying potential environmental risks. By addressing these areas now, you aren't just improving your current efficiency; you are protecting the land for the next generation of farmers.

Staying Competitive and Compliant

Many commodity groups and agencies now require an EFP for certification, completing one ensures your farm remains competitive and compliant within the industry.

Completing an EFP is a practical business move that offers immediate benefits. It provides a site-specific roadmap to help you better understand legal requirements and improve overall operational efficiency, which can lead to significant cost savings.

A valid EFP is often a "key" that unlocks essential financial support; many government programs, such as AgriInvest and the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, require a valid EFP to access grants and funding.

The EFP program is designed with the busy producer in mind, offering an easy-to-use and flexible online format that considers your farming operation as a whole. Once completed, your EFP remains valid for 10 years, giving you long-term peace of mind and a formal way to demonstrate your commitment to environmental leadership.
