Service Restored at Smith Sani Dump
Ensure the cap and door are properly secured
Update as of February 23
The Smith Sani Dump has been successfully restored to full operation.
We thank residents for their patience while recent issues were resolved.
Help Us Keep the Facility Running
To help prevent future service disruptions—especially during the colder months—we kindly remind all users to follow these two critical steps before leaving the site:
- Replace the Cap: Ensure the cap is securely fastened back onto the pipe after use.
- Close the Door: Please ensure the building door is shut tight and properly latched.
Why this matters: Even a small amount of exposure to the cold can cause the system to freeze several feet underground, leading to significant damage and extended closures. Taking a moment to secure the facility helps us keep the lines clear and the service available for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our community infrastructure.
The Smith Sani-Dump is currently out of service due to heater failures caused by extreme freezing temperatures.
Utility crews are on-site and working to complete repairs; however, there is currently no estimated time for reopening.
The facility will remain closed until further notice. We appreciate your patience as crews work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. For updates, please monitor the MD website and social media channels.
If you have any questions, please contact the MD at 780.849.4888 or toll-free at 1.866.449.4888.
Please note: The Smith Sani-Dump is located beside the MD's Water Treatment Plant, east of the Hamlet of Smith.
