Waste Separation is Essential

Lesser Slave Regional Landfill management wishes to remind residents of the vital importance of properly separating waste from recyclables. Not only does the practice of separating items help us manage our local landfill more effectively; it actually helps the entire region save money.

When facilities such as the Slave Lake Recycling Centre are toured, items such as household garbage, metal appliances - and believe it or not, even quad parts - can be seen in the brush bin at the back of the site. What this means is that, rather than being hauled tto the wood chip pile and sent for power generation at no charge to the Town, this entire brush bin must be sent to the landfill cell, resulting in an unnecessary and expensive tipping fee for the Town.

Residents are urged to please dispose of all waste properly, and to take the time to separate household waste from recyclables. Residents needing help hauling items away to the landfill are encouraged to call 780.369.2590.
