RCMP Seek Public Assistance in Fatal Highway 2 Collision

Slave Lake RCMP are seeking public assistance in this police investigation involving a double fatality that occurred as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 2, near Hondo.
Further investigation revealed the involved dark blue Dodge Durango (2024) bearing British Columbia licence plate RF6628, had passed other vehicles along Highway 2. Multiple statements have been obtained.
At this time, Slave Lake RCMP are specifically reaching out to speak with the driver of a transport truck who was also passed by the involved dark blue Dodge Durango, just prior to the collision with the involved dark green SUV. Police are also seeking dash camera footage that may have recordings of this collision which occurred around 3 p.m., on May 3, 2026.

On May 3, at approximately 3 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2, south of Slave Lake. The highway was closed for several hours.
Though the investigation is ongoing, preliminary information suggests that a vehicle crossed the double lines into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle, resulting in the death of those within.
A 58-year-old male and 62-year-old female, both residents of Slave Lake, were pronounced deceased on scene. Occupants of the other vehicle were transported by EMS with minor injuries.
Alberta RCMP sends their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
