Public Notice: Canadian Navigable Waters Act
The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124 hereby gives notice that an application has been made to the Minister of Transport, pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for approval of the work described herein and its site and plans.
Pursuant to paragraph 7(2) of the said Act, the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124 has deposited with the Minister of Transport, on the on-line Common Project Search Registry (https://cps.canada.ca/) and under Registry Number 12111, or under NPP File Number 2025-614827, a description of the following work, its site and plans:
- Construction of a new three-span, two-pier, steel girder bridge structure across the Athabasca River. This new structure will be installed parallel to and 10 m clear distance east (downstream) of the existing bridge within ATS SW-26-71-1-W5M and NW-23-71-1-W5M, north of Smith, Alberta.
- Demolition of the existing bridge structure BF71600 within the same ATS locations noted above.
