The MD is not in the current EUR area, but we are documenting local RGS activity and damage to support future applications and regulatory discussions.

The federal government has approved an Emergency Use Registration (EUR) for 2% Liquid Strychnine in specified areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan to help address Richardson’s Ground Squirrel (RGS) infestations.

This registration is in effect until November 1, 2027.

Your Input is Essential

Although the MD is not included in the current EUR area, we are actively documenting local RGS activity and damage to support future applications and discussions with regulators.

The more reports we receive, the more clearly we can demonstrate the impact these pests are having on local producers and agricultural operations in our municipality.

If Richardson’s Ground Squirrels are causing problems on your property, please contact us at 780.681.3929 or by email at kiara.hudy@mdlsr.ca. We will arrange a site visit to document the infestation and its impacts.

Together, we can ensure local concerns are documented and clearly represented.
