As Alberta gears up for another wildfire season, residents are reminded that fire permits are now required for all burning activities (excluding campfires).

From March 1 to October 31, fire permits are mandatory for all burning activities except campfires.

Obtain your free fire permit online at firepermits.alberta.ca or contact your local forestry office:

  • Slave Lake: 780-849-7377
  • Lac La Biche: 780-623-5388

Which Area Are You In?

The MD spans two Forest Protection Areas divided by the Athabasca River. If you are south of the river, you are in the Lac La Biche area; if you are north of the river, you are in the Slave Lake area.
