MD Enacts Staged Approach to Phase 2 Re-Entry


The MD of Lesser Slave River has begun to reopen municipal operated facilities in a measured and phased approach that ensures compliance with Alberta public health advisories and safety standards. MD Council has carefully considered and approved the following multi-phase approach.

Upon learning of Premier Kenney’s announcement regarding an acceleration of the Government of Alberta’s Stage II Relaunch Strategy, the MD of Lesser Slave River has been working to satisfy the opening requirements of the province.


Canyon Creek Campground Closed for the Season


While many regional campgrounds reopened June 1 in alignment with the Government of Alberta’s staged relaunch strategy, the Canyon Creek Campground will remain closed for the season in regard for public safety due to COVID-19 restrictions, and due to necessary maintenance and construction.

2020 Road Allowance Vegetation Management Program


The MD of Lesser Slave River will be conducting its Vegetation Management Program on municipally-owned road allowances for the destruction of prohibited noxious weeds, the control of noxious weeds and the control of woody species by application of herbicides from June 15 through to October 15, 2020.
