Hauling Hay? Remember Proper Cargo Securement
Unsecured hay is dangerous and against the law
The MD would like to remind all drivers that hauling hay requires proper cargo securement, just like any other load.
Hay bales that are not properly tied down or contained can easily fall onto the roadway, creating serious hazards for other motorists and damaging vehicles.
Recently, we have received complaints about hay bales ending up on local roads, and this is not only a safety concern but also a violation of cargo securement regulations.
All loads must be checked before leaving and periodically during transport to ensure they remain secure. Using appropriate straps, netting, or other securement devices helps prevent accidents and protects everyone traveling in our community.
Please do your part to keep our roads safe by securing your hay properly before hauling.
