The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association was privileged to be invited by the Lt. Governor's Office to participate in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal program in honour of Her Late Majesty's 70-year reign. The first investiture ceremony was held on December 3, 2022 in Red Deer, where Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service Deputy Fire Chief John McDermott was presented the medal by Member of Parliament Earl Dreeshen (Red Deer-Mountain View).

The second ceremony was held in Slave Lake at the Legacy Centre on January 7, 2023, where Fire Chief Alex Pavcek and 23 other members of the fire service team from across northern Alberta were awarded the medal by Member of Parliament Arnold Vierson (Peace River-Westlock).

On behalf of the MD of Lesser Slave River, congratulations to all the recipients on this well-deserved achievement! This recognition is a testament to the outstanding service and dedication of our fire service community.
