From the nature-themed parade to the heavy horse pull, the 44th annual Smith-Hondo Fall Fair & Rodeo was a resounding success!

Kicking off this year's fair on Friday, August 30 was a pancake breakfast hosted by the MD — and served up by Councillors and senior leadership representatives.

Griddles and picnic tables were set up on the new multi-use surface next to the equine arena, where fair-goers enjoyed flapjacks and fixings before taking part in the day's festivities.

"Thanks to everyone who joined us for Saturday's pancake breakfast. It’s your community spirit that makes the Fall Fair so special. Let’s do it again next year!"
- Reeve Kerik

The pancake breakfast made for a great start to the day, and it gave MD Councillors and staff a chance to chat with their fellow community members.

Following breakfast was a mother nature-themed parade led by local historian Sheila Willis as the Parade Marshall. The MD walked away with the first place ribbon (and a year's worth of bragging rights) for its four-season parade float!

The Ms. Teen Smith Pageant and junior gymkana event followed the Friday morning parade.

A variety of rodeo events took place on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1. Cowfolk from far and wide showed off their skills in events like bareback, tie-down roping, team roping, saddle bronc, ladies’ cow riding, bull riding, junior steer riding, calf riding, pee wee/junior/ladies’ barrels and more.

The MD wishes to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this year's Smith-Hondo Fall Fair and Rodeo — an event that seems to get better with each passing year. Take a moment to browse some of the event photos in the gallery below.
