Flatbush Water Passes All Safety Tests

All required tests have been completed, confirming the water is safe for everyday use and drinking.
Flatbush residents are advised that the water has successfully passed all government safety tests and is safe for consumption.
Prior status dated 7:00pm Wednesday, March 18
The MD is pleased to inform residents that emergency repairs are complete and water services have been restored.
Instructions for Residents:
- Clear Your Lines: You may notice some air in your water lines. Please run your taps until the water runs clear and any air bubbles have dissipated.
- Refrain from Consumption: As a precautionary measure, the MD asks all residents to refrain from consuming the water until bacteriological testing is finalized.
24-Hour Test Turnaround
Once samples are collected, they must undergo a mandatory 24-hour testing period. We anticipate receiving the final results and providing a further update by the end of the week.
We are working to ensure the safety of the water supply and will provide further details as soon as the test results are available. The MD thanks residents for their patience throughout the repair and restoration phases.
Prior status dated Monday, March 16
Repairs are taking longer than anticipated, and water service will not be restored until tomorrow (Tuesday). An exact timeline is not yet available.
Bottled water continues to be available for residents at the Flatbush Fire Hall until 8:00pm tonight, and again tomorrow from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
We appreciate residents’ continued patience and understanding as crews work to complete these repairs and restore service.
Prior status dated Sunday, March 15
The leak has been located, and the necessary equipment is expected to arrive early tomorrow morning to begin repairs immediately.
Crews will continue distributing bottled water at the Fire Hall until 9:00pm tonight and will return at 8:00am. tomorrow (Monday).
A third party has struck a main distribution line in Flatbush. The distribution system has been shut down to allow for emergency repairs.
Our team is working diligently to restore service; however, repairs are not expected to be completed tonight. The truck fill will remain open, and bottled water will be available shortly for affected residents at the Fire Hall.
Updates will be posted on the MD website and social media channels as they become available. The MD sincerely appreciates residents’ patience and understanding during this interruption.
