What is a 'Carbon Footprint' and What is the Footprint of Canadian Crops?

Carbon footprint? No problem!

New research from the University of British Columbia found that Canadian crops consistently have the lowest emissions footprints in the world because our soils are sequestering carbon.

In extreme cases, western Canadian crops could be shipped to western European markets an additional 17 times before their carbon footprint would break even with crops grown in Europe.

Curious to learn more about this research? Join Alberta AgriSystems and Dr. Nicole Bamber for an insightful webinar exploring how Canadian soils sequester carbon—and why Canadian crops have one of the lowest carbon footprints in the world.

Too Close to Home: Fighting Fires While Feeding Cows

Learn how grazing cattle have helped manage wildfires in British Columbia. With the rise of devastating and increasingly intense fire events across the province, it is clear that wildfire mitigation strategies are urgently needed.

After witnessing firsthand how grazing can influence fire behaviour, ranchers, researchers, and municipalities have come together to collaborate on a series of pilot projects that use cattle to reduce fire risk adjacent to urban communities.

Don’t miss the Too Close to Home: Fighting Fires While Feeding Cows webinar, presented by Alberta AgriSystems Living Lab and the British Columbia Cattlemen’s Association.

Precision Agriculture Technology: In the Field Perspectives

Precision agriculture—isn’t that just for large-scale crop operations? Think again. Join Alberta AgriSystems and three of its producer partners for an upcoming webinar sharing firsthand experiences adopting and successfully using precision agriculture technologies on their own operations.

Discover what worked, the lessons learned along the way, and how these tools can be practical, accessible, and impactful at any scale. Save your spot today.
