The Provincial Government has recently launched a new Fire Permit Portal. Albertans can now request their Fire Permits online through an online wildfire dashboard.
During wildfire season, Fire Permits are required for any burning in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, other than campfires. Fire Permits are free and help ensure that when smoke or a fire is reported, wildfire officials can determine whether it’s a wildfire or a permitted burn.
You can request a Fire Permit by using the new online Fire Permit Portal (a MyAlberta Digital ID is required). Alternatively, Fire Permits can be obtained by contacting your local Alberta Agriculture and Forestry office — Lac La Biche: 780.623.5388, and Slave Lake: 780.849.7377.
Alberta's Wildfire Season is March 1 to October 31 of each year.
