Be a Responsible Pet Owner

Pet ownership is encouraged and welcomed within the MD; however, strong emphasis is placed on responsible ownership of animals.

The MD seeks to remind residents of a few key points on pet ownership. Domestic animals like dogs, cats, rabbits and horses are considered property and thus should not be trapped, removed from their locality or harmed in any way. Having your pet wear an MD tag is the safest way to ensure its return; MD tags are FREE. Got a dog? Dogs must be leashed unless they are on their own property. The MD has initiated a cat trapping service; this will be provided as weather allows.

For any animal-related questions or concerns, please call 780.849.4888 and ask to speak with a Bylaw Enforcement representative.

Bylaw 2021-11 is designed to protect the public health and safety of citizens, and to promote the general welfare of the residents and animals residing within the MD.
