The MD is aware of the unpleasant taste and odor that is occurring throughout the Widewater and Canyon Creek distribution system, and is working diligently to resolve this matter. Residents are advised that the water is safe to drink and meets all regulatory requirements of a safe potable water source.
Taste and odor issues are commonly caused by the source of the water and treatment process. High water demands and soaring temperatures have resulted in the MD’s Utilities department bringing the old conventional water plant online to meet these increased demands. The conventional plant does meet the requirements for safe drinking water however is unable to filter out taste and odor as efficiently as the new membrane system plant, resulting in the current unpleasant taste and smell.
Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding as the Utilities department works to correct this issue. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to phone 780.849.4888 ext. 227.
