Fire Permits required until October 31

All burning activities in Alberta’s Forest Protection Area, excluding campfires, now require a fire permit.

Fire permits are free and can be obtained by contacting your local Alberta Agriculture and Forestry office: for Slave Lake, call 780.849.7377, and for Lac La Biche, call 780.623.5388.

The MD of Lesser Slave River lies within the boundaries of two different Forest Protection Areas: the Lac La Biche Forest Protection Area and the Slave Lake Forest Protection Area. The Lac La Biche Forest Protection Area refers to any MD land located south of the Athabasca River, and the Slave Lake Forest Protection Area refers to any MD land to the river’s north.

Find Alberta Wildfire Updates in the Slave Lake Forest Area, and the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
