Every four years, residents elect a Reeve and six Councillors to a four-year term.

About the Municipal General Election
In Alberta, municipal elections are held every four years. The most recent election was on October 20, 2025. On this day, eligible voters of Lesser Slave River had the opportunity to elect one Reeve and six Councillors to represent our municipality for the next four years.
In Lesser Slave River, Councillors are elected by division, with voters casting their ballot based on their division of residence. Voters from both divisions also vote to elect the Reeve. There are two divisions in the MD.
Do you know your electoral division?
There are only two electoral divisions in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River.
Each of these electoral divisions will have two voting stations set up between 8:00am and 8:00pm on election day. You must vote at a polling place within your electoral division.
