Trek Safely During COVID-19

To prevent the further spread of Covid-19, we strongly encourage everyone using trails in our network to keep a distance of at least two metres from others, in accordance with public health guidelines.

Before heading out on the Trail, please keep three things in mind:

  • As with all years, Trail sections are currently experiencing the effects of thawing, which can cause surfaces to become muddy or even hazardous.
  • The trails that are part of our network are locally owned and operated. So, the decision to close their sections for a range of reasons (staffing, safety, busier sections that may make social distancing less effective, etc.) is under their purview. Our recommendation for trail users is that they follow provincial and federal guidelines, but to always check the status of trail you’re planning to visit.
  • Before going outside, please consult the latest updates from the Government of Canada, the World Health Organization, your province, your municipality and the organization that manages your chosen section of the Trail.

The situation evolves quickly, so we may not be made aware of all trail closures. We understand that the situation might be frustrating for those who wish to enjoy some fresh air. However, some local trails volunteer organizations may be facing unforeseen challenges and determine that it is in the public’s best interest to close their section.
