Check the restrictions before you head out.
From time to time, traffic on Lesser Slave River's roads must be restricted due to construction, maintenance or seasonal conditions such as the spring thaw. Road Bans are implemented for the purpose of restricting the weight of commercial vehicles and the goods they carry on municipal roadways. These restrictions are designed to help reduce wear and tear on some of our main thoroughfares and prolong the life span of MD roads.
In accordance with the Traffic Safety Act, permits are required for all over-weight and over-dimensional loads. Please contact the Transportation Department for more information or to obtain a permit. Please also note that the road ban order indicated below rescinds all previous road ban orders and shall remain in effect until further notice.
Posted Axle Weights
Axle weights are the weight restrictions for vehicles that lower the maximum legal registered permitted weight placed on a road. This protects the infrastructure from damage. In accordance with the Traffic Safety Act, permits are required for all overweight and over-dimensional loads.
This order rescinds all previous road ban orders and shall remain in effect until further notice. Note that the West Fawcett Lake Road has been lowered to 50%; this immediate ban has been approved by the MD Traffic Advisory Committee under Municipal District of Lesser Slave River bylaw number 69-11. We apologize for the short notice, but it is necessary to protect the Municipal Roads from excessive damage.
