Steer Clear of the Metal Pile

The Regional Landfill often gets asked why they won't allow residents to rummage through the metal pile for parts and materials. For purposes of safety. With a few very minor exceptions, landfill management prohibits scavenging metal or any other materials found on site.

Regional Landfill management cannot take a chance of someone slipping and getting hurt while rummaging through the metal. Worse worse yet: someone could be in the pile where they cannot be seen, while a landfill worker pushes up the metal on top of them.

The safety of residents and staff is our number one priority, and for this reason, individuals are not allowed in the metal pile. If there is something right on the edge that you can grab, we will allow such activity within reason. Please remember that we are thinking of your safety (and ours) first and foremost when we set up rules, no matter how inconvenient this may be.
