Important: weight restrictions in effect on Muskeg Creek Bridge

Effective immediately, a strict weight limit of 5 tonnes will be enforced on the Muskeg Creek Bridge in accordance with the imposed weight restrictions.

The Muskeg Creek Bridge, situated on Muskeg Road to the west of the intersection of East Mitsue/Old Smith Highway, underwent an inspection in August 2023. The inspection revealed that the bridge is in a deteriorated state, primarily due to the aging of its sub-structures, which have experienced various forms of degradation.

Based on the findings of the inspection, our team of Engineering Consultants strongly recommends the implementation of a weight restriction on the Muskeg Creek Bridge. To ensure the utmost safety, a weight limit of 5 tonnes will be enforced, regardless of the axle configuration or type of cargo being transported.

Please note that these weight restrictions, which apply to all vehicles including those carrying heating fuel and drinking water, will continue to be in effect until further notice. If the weight of your vehicle exceeds 5 tonnes, you must plan your route so as to avoid crossing the Muskeg Creek Bridge.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
