Fire Services Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • Truck Fire –HWY 754- KM 46
  • Rescue –SAR Missing Persons – Lawerence Lake
  • 3 MVA – No Frills Parking Lot, HWY 88 46 KM North SL, HWY 44 & TWP 662
  • 2- Other –Down power line HWY 88 10 min North of Wabasca HWY, Down power line 420 5 ST NE

  • SAR trailer awning adjustment/Set up
  • Assisted with set up of driving course for TOSL Health & Safety Stand down day
  • Safety Stand Down Day participation
  • Hall 1 hydraulic tools serviced
  • Bunk house winterized
  • Hall 2-Unit 251 repairs, truck service
  • Hall 1-Overhead doors serviced
  • Winter tire change over all pick ups
  • Hall 1 eaves trough repairs

  • Hosted First Nations Technical Advisory group for a week long training session
  • Assisted Class Instructor with car fire and hose work, as well as class introductions, gear sizing and Fire Hall Tour
  • Hall 1 Training, Driver Training, Closed obstacle training that was set up at the Airport for Health & Safety Stand down day and assisted with drivers
  • Assisted with cleanup of equipment from the SAR deployment
  • Reviewed TOSL Fire Department Budget
  • Interview and physical for new Hall 1 FF
  • Completed final formal inspection of New 2 U Second Hand Store

  • School fire prevention talks
  • MD budget meeting
  • Completed ACP EMR paper work
  • Clean up from SAR call
  • Mitsue Hall visit, cleaned, ordered water, reported Hall items to be repaired to MD maintenance. Cleaned up gear from FF, that are no longer with the Mitsue and Widewater halls.
  • Procured items for WW Hall and Smith hall Unit 251 washed after returned from service
  • Prepping for scheduling for training schedule for 2018
  • Medals arrived for awards received nominations.

  • SAR training, night search, 1 member gone to Regional District SAR meeting, UTV Training
  • Hall 5 training led by DC Pavcek SCBA, Searches and Thermal Image Camera usuage
  • Hall 3 Thermal Imaging Camera Training led by DC Kearney
